Idea of progress
Intro: The idea of progress basically consists in believing that the world can become better in terms of art,
sciences and technologies.
Progress is the action to go forward to increase in evolution.
The notion may
include Smartphones, 4G, higher buildings, medicine advance, social networks, TV, video games...
But the idea
of progress isn't very safe, since people can be associable because they are always glued to their screen;
people can get brain cancer since the waves of the Smartphone are bad for health.
The notion I'm going to deal
with is the private life.
That's why we can wonder whether '' does the privacy rhyme with the new technology?''
1) First and foremost, we have seen in class a cartoon about the CCTV.
The man on the cartoon is spied on all
the time, because the camera is strapped around him.
The cartoonist wants to convey a message with humor
and irony; he denounces the ubiquitousness of the CCTV, since there are an increasing number of cameras.
2) Now, let's move on to a picture with many eyes and pupils.
They represent the CCTV which has positive and
negative aspects.
On the one hand, with the CCTV, I can say that the people are safe, the pedestrians are
protected.
It prevents and deters criminals from doing crimes.
Furthermore, the police want to know where are
crimes had down.
On the other hand, there is already police patrol and we are spied on all the time.
From my
point of view it's unbearable! Since people are always on their guards, they can feel paranoid, and they don't
have private life.
So it's a lack of liberty.
Today CCTV systems film all of everyday life in Britain's towns and
cities.
This is a perfect way to catch criminals and vandals, but also can invade our privacy.
3) Then, we have seen a cartoon for a big social network, it' s facebook.
Marc Zuckerberg is the founder.
All the
people in the public are glued to the screen where there is Marc, their big brother.
Marc says that facebook is
safe and we have privacy and intimacy.
But to my mind Facebook is dangerous because people can see your.
