Ladies and gentlemen good morning , we get together , like all Wednesday morning , to speak about a
topical issue in our country : The Immigration .
So , do you think that the immigration is an reason of
our economical and cultural development ? To answer to this question , we'll rely on testimonials of
two immigrants : A children from Cuba , and rather elderly person from Pakistan .
We also have the
pleasure of welcoming a politician , specialized in the immigration and an humanitarian woman .
So I
hand over to you , Jerry Goley .
Please , give us your first reactions and opinion about the subject .
Hello! So , we must base ourselves on figures .
Today we count 13% of American population was born
abroad .
Since the first European settlers arrived in the sixteenth century , more than 50 millions
immigrants have settled in USA .
In 2006 the USA accepted more than legal immigrants as permanent
residents than all other countries in the world combined .
In 2007 we counted 38 million of immigrants
in the USA .
So what are positive sides of immigration :
Concerning the cultural aspect :- Music diversity
-High level athlete .
Today , black American athletes represent proudly our country during the
Olympics games .
-Rejuvenation of the population , the outcome is a younger workforce.
Concerning our economical development ;
-The increasing of consumption , it should be borne in mind that couples consume less .
Households
expenses fell of 0,6% .
So We must restart immigration to boost consumption .
-Cheap and motivated workforce .
-And Finally , the brain drain promote the research .
So according to you , the The american dream is nothing without the immigration ?
Yes, indeed !
Before and over to our two immigrants , I'd like to interest to your case , Smith .
Could you tell us your
quite special story ?
Yes sure ! So , I am fiftee-four .
I lodge Jose Waza , here present , his three brothers and sisters and his
mother .
I work as voluntary .
I help immigrants because I have experienced poverty , I have
experienced their story ! I had just enough to live on , I support my family with only one salary ,
mine ! And I hope that to anybody ! Besides I help immigrants from every walk of life by feed them ,
by lodge them , by find a school for children or a job for parents .
That's the least I can do for them .
Besides , I think there are ready to integrate themselves in the real life , the American dream .
That's not too difficult to break up , sometimes ?
Yes , especially when I attach to much importance to children , Yes , that's always difficult .
Hy Jose , your story is quite gripping because you immigrated in USA when you have only 8 .
So tell
us your trip from Cuba to USA ?.
