Inde ed the 60’ was the symbol of youth and drugs.

The young people were more numerous because of baby boom.

They embody a new generation, rebel and engaged.

They stood for a powerful social and cultural force. Comes along with that comes, a more consumerism of drugs like marijuana or LSD by Hippies.

To sum up , T hey invented a counter culture, a culture with values and lifestyles that go against of the established society.

However, there was not only the consumerism of drug who increase d, in the sixties it was the 30 year boom period, people spent all their money.

We enter in a general consumer society with the development of electric and domes tic appliances, of advertising.

Moreover, The sixties were characterized by a forward movement for women with the sexual revolution.

Besides, they could have access to the contraception and with the uptake of the pills , what was at this time a scientific advance. The availability of the contraceptive pill came to symbolize a new freedom for women. Moreover, The law of mode are changing, now the dress are short with warm colours. The housewives becomes more independants. Then , there were technical advances like the colour TV which appeared in 1967 on BBC2 mainly with sports programs .

And also, t he landing on the moon of Neil Armstrong in 1969 .

Finally, The Sixties was an iconic decade with a lot of new revoluti on , innovation on every domain : social, lifestyle, technical, scientific ...

In social, there is the appearance of the Counter -Culture : The youth trying to change the balance of power challenging the establish order.
