« Final task Hello my name is Sarah, I'm 15 years old and I'm here to talk to you about my country’s history.

I am currently in high school.

I was born in South Africa and my family has lived there for four generations.

I'm a member of the born-free generation.

I am passionate about art and history and specifically about the south Africa's one because my family lived through racial segregation and I feel very concerned about my country's past.

Indeed since I was little my parents tell me a lot about what life was like during apartheid.

After apartheid, my family's life completely changed.

Indeed the nation was now free and democratic, we talked of a rainbow nation and everyone was able to resume a normal life.

My parents told me they felt more free and happy than ever.

The abolition of this segregation in June 1991 is mainly due to Nelson Mandela who also became the president of South Africa in 1994.

Although he was imprisoned for 27 years, he worked a lot for equality and freedom.

Being born and living in the post-apartheid era made me realize how fortunate I am to live in a free generation full of hope on opportunity, which defends human rights.

I never faced any difficulties in my education because I live in exceptional conditions.

I am part of the free born generation and for me that means being part of a multicultural and modern society where each one expresses his creativity and asserts his identity.

Our generation is full of hope and dreams.. »
