« “ I don’t know about you but i’m having a good time “ This is with this word that Donald Trump almost start his speech after the announcement of his impeachment.

What he called a “ light impeachment “ is actually a real application of the American Constitution that we are going to read to introduce our presentation : Article II Section 4 : The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

( slides ) The Constitution provides to the House of Representatives the prerogatives to, in case of an impeached official upon conviction, remove any of the cited above from office. To put things in context, Donald Trump, the 45th USA’s president is the third sitting president to go through an impeachment after Andrew Johnson in 1868 and Bill Clinton, in 1999.

However, impeachment is a quit recurrent procedure for other civil offices.

( slide ) First of all, to enter to the historical of Trump’s impeachment let’s go back to its origins. Trump takes over the White House in 2017.

The Russiagate open the suspicion in 2016, an affair which involved Trump and his relationship with Russia. The volonty of impeachment never became concrete at this time due to House of Representatives situation.

In fact, it was eaded at this time by the Democrats.

Moreover, the Democrats had knowledge that the successor of Trump in case of impeachment would be an even more conservative personality : Mike Pence. To introduce the impeachment that we want to present, let’s discover what happened at all the steps of its way. The process of impeachment involves three official steps which can end at any of them. This first step is the investigation in House of Representatives committees which start in 2019.

The heart of this story was a complaint from an unknown whistleblower.

In fact, a letter was written by an intelligence official.

This letter express concern about a july 2019’s phone exchange between President Trump and Volodimyr Zelensky.

The official spoke of an “urgent concern” which was in reality a solicitation to investigate former US Vice-President Joe Biden, the frontrunner to take on Mr Trump in the 2020 election, as well as Mr Biden's son who was working for a ukrainian company. All this happened.... »
