Angela Davis
Today, We are going to talk to you about Angela Davis an afro-American
woman and why we think she has her place in the museum.
Angela Yvonne Davis was born the 26 January 1944 in Birmingham in
Alabama where racial segregation is still in place.
Today she has 80 years
old.
During her childhood, Angela suffers violence, humiliation and
racism.
Around her house there were a lot of attacks against the black
community, that’s why the neighborhood is called « Dynamite Hill ».
Her
parents were activists for the rights of black community, so she was
inspired by her.
She goes to study in New York and she discovered the
socialist and communist movement there.
She joined an organization
called « Advance » and she takes part in demonstrations, this was her first
activist action.
During her studies, she went to Europe to study philosophy
and she came back to the USA to participate in the fight for black
liberation.
In 1968, she integrates black Panthers Party ( a revolutionary movement
for afro-American).
In 1970, she was accused of having organised a hostage taking who made
4 deaths in a court.
After this, she starts a run to escape the government,
she proclaims her innocence and triggers a....
