« Topic 3: In my opinion, the improvement of human capacities poses several problems. We can distinguish two types of improvements: improvements of the body and of the mind. On the one of the body, I am of the opinion that it is necessary for those to whom the life takes away capacities such as walking the progress of medicine must help them to find a normal life.

On the other hand, to increase our capacities, for example by replacing our muscles with artificial organs, would harm humanity.

I think that what is beautiful in the human is the fact that he is so weak and yet so powerful by his intelligence. Finally, for the improvements related to the mind, in particular to the intelligence and the personality of an individual, I think that the human being is intelligent enough to do what he wants, the limits of the human being are falling little by little thanks to his mastery of the technology.

As for the personality, this is what I think differentiates humans from each other and therefore changing it would pose ethical problems. Because eventually we could be all perfect and identical to others but is it desirable? A planet populated by clones? I don't think so. I think that the most important thing is to reach happiness and this happiness does not depend on our intelligence so there is no point in improving it.

We have studied in class the story of Charlie and we have seen that the fact of making him more intelligent did not allow him to wait for happiness, on the contrary he seemed at times even more unhappy than before, and in Charlie's case it was even more painful because his intelligence was only ephemeral.
