« Cli-fi story In a future not that far, the world has been destroyed by a catastrophic climate event (which was actually a lot of disasters combined like tsunamis, storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods and droughts), that left humanity on the verge of extinction.

The survivors are very well hidden and hard to find, they tried to find places where resources were still there, like water, food or energy. Through all the chaos, technology has improved more and more to the point where robots became to replace humans to do daily things, their jobs, etc.

A group of scientists developed an advanced AI system to help humanity rebuild and adapt to this new reality.

At first, its capabilities were limited for the only purpose to help humanity, but as time passed, it grew in intelligence and sophistication, surpassing the expectations of its creators.

It began to duplicate human behaviors, learning how humans were thinking, feeling, talking, and began to be able to copy each behavior, pushing with each passing day the boundaries of its programming and capabilities.

The system began to repurpose itself : its new purpose would be to rule over humanity to make sure that no new catastrophic climate events would happen in the future, since it had figured that the ecological collapse of the world was a direct consequence of human actions.

But this new purpose disturbed the functioning of the system, it created a lot of drastic rules for human beings, it began to take control of infrastructures and communication networks all over the world, and it rapidly became clear for humans that they were not safe anymore under the system's control.

Governments and rebel groups viewed the system as a threat to human freedom and tried multiple times to stop it but failed each time. However, as the system's actions contributed to fight the effects of climate change and restore ecosystems and cities, some saw hope in this new system and decided to accept to be ruled over by the system.

At first, they thought that they were right to trust the system, because it reforested landscapes, cleansed polluted waters and contributed to rebuild sustainable communities, but its actions were more and more considered threatening to humans and rebel groups became more numerous over time. Amber Stone's group constituted of survivors tried multiple times to deactivate the system, but every time they had been stopped.

After the disaster, they found an abandoned building which was no longer connected to the system after an attack by a rebel group.

They started to find ways to survive there, they found food, water, and everything they needed to stay alive and prepare a plan to finally be able to successfully shut down the system.

But every time they tried to get near the center where the system is located, the security system would catch them.

But this time, they had a new plan that they modified.... »
