« Why did the UK choose to leave the EU ? The United Kingdom has been a part of the European Union since 1973. You may have heard something about this event but on the 23rd of June 2016, the British government organized a referendum to leave the European Union.

51.9% of the British agreed.

The UK and EU government started to debate the withdrawal thanks to the article 50 of the treaty of the European Union.

They found an agreement on the 17th of october 2017.

At this moment a period of transition began that has ended the 31st of January 2020.

It has helped citizens, businesses and public authorities to adapt to these changes.

The agreement enabled the UK to keep the European rights during this period.

The question about the separation has been resolved as protection of intellectual property rights or the progressive end of military and security cooperation.

The authorities agreed on a juridical solution to avoid a physical boundary between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Finally, the agreement asked the UK to pay all the financial obligations they had to pay. Argument in favour :  Sovereignty: Supporters of Brexit argue that leaving the European Union (EU) allows the UK to regain full control over its laws, borders, and decisionmaking processes.
