• Who hasn't ever watched or read about celebrities? Fame is
fascinating to most of us, no doubt.
The lines of fans waiting for
autographs from their favourite pop stars after a concert are quite
amazing .
The number of celebrities ' followers is absolutely fabulous!
• Teenagers used to collect pictures and paste them on the walls of
their bedrooms .
But with new technologies, things have dramatically
changed: you can now publish a picture of yourself on social
networks , hoping for immediate fame .
You know you won't get
long-lasting fame but the idea of becoming famous for a short
while, even for one day only, can be very attractive to some of us.
Posting selfies on a wall has grown part of some people's everyday
lives .
Fame is fun and walls are the place to be.
So, yes, to put it in a
nutshell, people of the 21' 1 century are obsessed with instant fame.
• Nowadays, there are ail sorts of contests and beauty pageants that
will give you celebrity.
But actually, these events have always sort
of existed.
The only difference now is that some are broadcasted
on TV channels thus giving the winners more visibility.
Yet, that
difference is big and raises important issues .
ls it a good thing
that children should be exposed nationwide while competing for
a beauty pageant, for example? Shouldn't their parents adopt a
healthier behaviour and encourage their children to practise other
rewarding activities?
• As for reality shows, the prospect of being watched and followed
by millions of people can be very appealing .
Yet, you have to be
aware of the fact that your popularity will fade out as soon as the
