« IS EDUCATION FOR ALL Education is an important tool which is very useful in everybody’s life.

Education is what differentiates us from other living beings on earth.

It takes human the smartest creature on earth, it empowers humans and gets them to face challenges of life efficiently.

Subsequently, education helps as well in making someone independent, if a person is educated, they won’t have to depend anyone else for their livelihood.

They will be self-sufficient to earn for themselves and live a good life.

Thereby , it increases the chances of success in a person’s life. With that being said, education still remains a luxury so the question we’ll ask ourselves is : Do everybody have the same opportunities ? Is education for all ? The right to education has been enshrined as a Fundamental Right by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights : « Everyone has the right to education ».

However 57 millions of children are out of school, 5 barriers to access to education has been identified : income, race, religion, geography and gender.

For instance the difference between public school and private school, one is free whereas the other isn’t (average private school tuition is $9,975).

But the problem lays in the difference between those two : « private school is determining tomorrow’s millionaires », sending children to private school could set them up to earn dramatically higher salaries than their peers.

So with that, wouldn’t it be giving more chances to one than another by making not free ? It is safe to say now that children from wealthy families have it easier and even more for higher education, indeed, access to college in the US is expensive.

For example, in 2017 families spent an average of 26,458$ on college and according to this same survey, more than half of families borrowed for college : That’s the reason why students, when out of college, are most of the time in debt and still with their degree, they don’t always instantly find a reliable job that values their years of studies.

Anyways, with better living conditions and opportunities, people would desire higher qualifications as possibilities.

Now, there are no such positions, and it is only natural that the low budgets cannot allow for funding higher education. Bianca Jeannot graduated with honors at 22, college New rochelle.

She lived in homeless shelters, has 2 disabled brothers and sadly lost her mom at 18.

She, then, had to take care of the household so she worked 4 jobs while in college.

Even though she had it extremely hard, she still made it and people think highly of her now.

Of course that woman is very brave and strong for dealing with that and still getting her diploma but let’s face it, she’s a victim, a victim of the system and perhaps of capitalism.

Who in their right mind would willingly put themselves in this position ? We’re still humans after all and I’m sure Bianca Jeannot wishes she didn’t have to work 4 jobs while attending classes to be able to live a decent life. Finally, every educational institute should be accessible for everybody.

Nobody can be discriminated on basis of race, sex, color, religion, immigration status, economic status, language and also ethnic.

The school should be safe to attend and should be reasonable distance from the community.

Education should be affordable to all, with textbooks, supplies to students at no extra costs.

Higher education shall be made equally. »
