Hi nation.
Today I’m here to promote one of the best classic not-so-controversial “mofo” books ever:
1984 – George Orwell.
Let’s start by summarizing this novel.
The story focuses on Winston Smith, an old member of the Outer Party who lives in ruled by a super
totalitarian regime called: “The Party”.
The Party controls people by changing the language and the
records of the past to make people mindless party-loving zombies and unconscious of the world
surrounding them.
There’s also a group of secret Gestapo-KGB style police named the Thought Police
whose job is to stalk everybody and “educate” or vaporize the heretics.
One day, Winston did some deep
thinking to finally decide to oppose The Party and Big Brother, its imaginary leader.
To keep his
consciousness, he starts a diary and to keep himself alive, he learned to mask his feelings.
Later on, Julia,
the pretty girl Winston was bitching about gives him a note to confess her love for him.
And also he meets
O’Brien, an Inner Party member with whom Winston thinks; share the same feelings toward the Party.
One day O’Brien invites Winston and Julia to his mansion and introduces them to a secret conspiracy
group, The Brotherhood.
A few weeks later, while reading the book (not just any book, DA book) O’Brien
lent him, the secret popo arrest him and his hoe.
Turns out O’Brien was a chef of the Thought Police.
Now here comes the painful part: Killing you is not their goal.
They want to realign your mind with the
Party’s principles.
To do so, O’Brien tortures the soul of Winston and tries to fill his brain with the love of
Big Brother.
But Winston stays conscious for Julia! So he was brought to the super torture room, Room
101 to get a cage full of rats in his face.
Yes, he is musophobic.
Winston snaps and yells: “NO! DO IT TO
MAH HOE!” After the precedent events, he was released and broke up with Julia.
He now loves Big
Brother and believes that 2 and 2 make 4.
There are 3 main concepts in INGSOC (AKA.
English Socialism)
-Doublethink
-Crimestop
-Blackwhite
The most important one being doublethink.
Doublethink’s definition is within the word itself: you think in
two different ways at once.
It a bit like being a religious anthropology scientist.
Ex: First thought: I believe I’m black even though I know I’m yellow
Second thought: I deny being yellow (erase the fact that it was a lie in the first place)
Do the math and now I think I’m black.
Ultimately, you become a fool who believes in nonsense with all
the conviction of it being true.
Like O’Brien said: “Doublethink goes on forever.
With the lie always one
step ahead of the truth.” Now you be asking: “Why all this bullshit?” Because some people wants to keep
the power for themselves of course! If you want to hide the truth, you can’t just burn all the books and
people (like Hitler did).
You need to rewrite them to your favor and alternate the past to make the
population believe that they are progressing even though they aren’t doing shit.
That’s how we roll! And
that’s how Stalin rolls too! This book was written by George Orwell as a warning for all mankind: If we
don’t react, we’ll all end up like fucking robots.
It’s up to date: NSA is spying on everyone without their
consent and Good-guy Edward Snowden got kicked from the country because he revealed the world what
kind of shit Obama was up to.
I hope you enjoyed this presentation, my name is Alex Yang and I’m done..
