« The Problem We All Live With by Norman Rockwell « The Problem We All Live With » is an oil painting created by Norman Rockwell, an American painter and illustrator known for his popular representations of American culture for « the Saturday Evening Post » magazine.

« The Problem We All Live With » was initially published in « Look » magazine on January 1964 14th, during the civil rights movement in the United States.

This painting has dimensions of 94.4 x 147.3 cm.

The colours are dull and it's look like a picture because it is part of the hyper - realism movement. There are two "ground" on this painting: At first in the foreground, we can see a black young girl who is wearing white dress and baskets : the white of the clothes contrasts with the child's skin and symbolises purity and innocence.

Moreover, she does seem to holding some school stuff like notebooks, pens ann a ruler under her left arm, that is why we can suppose that she's going to school. Around her, there are four white men who are wearing suits with badges on their chest and yellow cuffs on their left arm where we can see : "Deputy US marshalls".

Howeover, we don't see their faces, because the important thing is that they symbolise the law that protects the little girl,.... »
