by Norman Rockwell
« The Problem We All Live With » is an oil painting created by Norman
Rockwell, an American painter and illustrator known for his popular

magazine on January 1964 14th, during the civil rights movement in the
United States.
This painting has dimensions of 94.4 x 147.3 cm.
The colours
are dull and it's look like a picture because it is part of the hyper - realism
movement.
There are two "ground" on this painting:
At first in the foreground, we can see a black young girl who is wearing white
dress and baskets : the white of the clothes contrasts with the child's skin and
symbolises purity and innocence.
Moreover, she does seem to holding some
school stuff like notebooks, pens ann a ruler under her left arm, that is why we
can suppose that she's going to school.
Around her, there are four white men who are wearing suits with badges on
their chest and yellow cuffs on their left arm where we can see : "Deputy US
marshalls".
Howeover, we don't see their faces, because the important thing is
that they symbolise the law that protects the little girl,....
