« Sekhmet Introduction : Sekhmet is one of the most important ancient Egyptian gods.

Egyptian texts and art attest to her presence as early as the Old Kingdom period, in the third millennium before Jesus-Christ.

From that time on, she is considered to be closely associated with the pharaon.

Sekhmet was associated both with disease and with healing and medicine. Sekhmet is represented in Egyptian art as a lion-headed woman.

Her head was sometimes topped with a solar disk and a cobra symbolizing the defense of the enemies of royal power. Origins : Sekhmet was the daughter of Ra, the god of the sun and another incarnation of the goddess Hathor, goddess of love, beauty, music, motherhood and joy. When Ra decided that he was going to destroy humanity, Hathor transformed into Sekhmet, a bloody being who unleashed her anger and violence on humans.

It caused devastation on earth, almost destroying all humanity, drinking the blood of the dead.

Finally, Ra realized that he had made a mistake, but he could stop Sekhmet.

He made a plan to turn a beer and dye it red, and poured it on the ground below.

Sekhmet thought the beer was blood and she drank it all, causing her to become drunk and eventually pass out. When she woke up, she was the gentle Hathor again. His powers : Sekhmet is the Egyptian goddess of war, destruction, vengeance, healing and diseases. She is the daughter.... »
