This movie tells the tragic story of solomon by taking up what was delivered in his autobiography.

At first, Solomon Northup was a free man but later he was kidnapped to be sold as a slave in a plantation in Louisiana.

The movie takes place in America,in New Orleans area: in a place very close to where Solomon was purchased.

It was filmed in the 19th century and traces the story of Northup.

Twelve Years of Slavery, which is performed by Chiwetel Ejiofor, accompanied, in particular by Michael Fassbender and Lupita Nyong'o. Steven Rodney «Steve» McQueen, born October 9, 1969 in London, is a British contemporary artist and director.

He has directed other films and also short films and has received no less than 17 awards for his film “Twelve years a slave”. DIAPO 3/ explication>>> At first, the producer, wanted to make a film about slavery but had no idea how he could tell the story that slaves had lived.

Afterwards he had given up until the day his wife found the archives of the book of solomon.

This book inspired him a lot, so he made a film adaptation of it on the story of solomon. After that, the producer contacted a whole team to edit the movie and best transcribe the reality of slavery.

the producer therefore started from the autobiographical book to create an even more powerful emotion in his movie. Twelve years a slave tell the story of a man name Solomon Northup he was a carpenter and a violonist and use to live as a free man with his wife and his two children, but one day he is kidnapped and sale as a slave. Solomon is now called Platt and he is purchased by a man name William Ford.

Ford is not the worst master and he is not the cruelest either, he even give his violon to Solomon as a gift for his help.

But tension is growing between Solomon and Tibeats a plantation Carpenter.

One day Solomon decide to defend himself and hit him back, as a consequences Ford sell Solomon to Edwin Epps who is an horrible and sadistic master. But one day Solomon meets Samuel Bass a Canadian laborer who is against slavery.

Solomon decide to tell him his story and try to convince him to send a letter to his o ld friends in New York.

Bass is hesitant at first because of the risk but he agrees.

Finally Solomon regain his freedom and return to his family, after he had pass twelve years in hell.
