« Who am I? “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” Aristotle Knowing yourself is an important but difficult question, one that I will try to answer with you today.

Ready? My name is Bastien Bonnefois.

“Bastien” comes from Sebastian, from the Greek sebastos, meaning “venerable.” It is often associated with calmness and wisdom. I live in Bièvres, a charming little town surrounded by nature. My father is an engineer, and my mother is a researcher.

They are both highly qualified in their fields and work to innovate, either by creating new technologies or improving existing ones. My favorite subject at school is physics.

I love understanding what happens around us and exploring the laws of the universe. I speak English and German, although my German is mediocre.

Without competition, English is my favorite language because of how useful it is. My English level should be between B1 and B2, although I have never taken a test. If I were an English teacher, I would organize a storytelling activity where students create short tales in groups, then perform them aloud, improving vocabulary, creativity, teamwork, and speaking confidence. In my free time, I enjoy playing video games and cooking.

Cooking helps me contribute at home and enjoy good food, while video games allow me to express my creativity. In the future, I would love to go to the USA for at least two weeks to take a road trip and visit the biggest cities as well as the most beautiful national parks. I would also like to attend a preparatory class and then pursue studies in an engineering school, with the goal of specializing in advanced aerospace engineering. For my career, I would like to become an aerospace engineer.

It has been my goal since childhood, as it combines mechanics and airplanes, two fields that I find fascinating. In my dream life, I would be an aircraft pilot, because flying above the clouds must be one of the most amazing feelings that exist.
